*EC* Opportunity for Ms. Ferree's Students!

*EC* Geometry: Some of the high school students in Russian Mission are going to be reviewing the sum of interior angles of polygons [remember (n-2)180?] and similar polygons. Offer them some advice about solving interior angle and similarity problems. What are the most important things to remember? What mistakes must be avoided? You must answer in complete sentences to receive credit!!

*EC* Pre-Algebra: The high school students in Russian mission are reviewing linear equations. Offer them advice on solving and graphing linear equations. What are the most important things to remember? What mistakes must be avoided? You must answer in complete sentences to receive credit!!

One of the things you should remember to do when reviewing the sum of interior angles of polygons is to count up the sides then plug those into the equation (n-2)*180, what I do when they want me to find one angle is find how many degrees it should equal, then I would subtract the sum of interior angles from the total ammount of degrees it should equal for example: (5-2)*180 - (101+132+105+124) = measurement of the missing angle. (i've never been great at explaining things so if you can't understand it I can try another way.

  4. Like Ryan said a thing to remeber was a thing that i had trouble with was adding thae sides and plugging it into the equation (n-2)180. That will be a huge thing for the students to remember so force that issue.

  8. Hey! okay i'm not good at explaining math by wrting it down i'm much better at showing it, so I'm sorry. Just know that when using the formula don't get mad at it. Practicing it, and doing problems for practice helps alot. If you're still having problems don't be afraid to ask for help, the teachers won't bite you!

  10. You need math in nearly everything you do. Because of this, math is very important to learn. With over twenty years of on the job experience, I can assure you that interior angles are needed in trade jobs such as carpentry, architecture, and math teaching jobs. The key thing to remember when working with interior angles is the formula, (n-2)*180. Some things to remember are the formula, using the formula correctly, and multiplying by 180. It's all quite simple, once you get the gist of it. Good luck

    How are you? Are you having fun at The Village?
    When you do linear equations just remember to always keep the equation written down so you can refer back to it. Make sure you do lots of examples!! And if someones not very good at it just encorage them and do more examples!!!

    Class Response for Period 6
    1. Remember that m=slope and the slope is right next to the x (Sam R)
    2. Start point is b which is the y-intercept or the single whole number in the equation.(Sam)
    3. Slope is always rise over run (Candice)
    4. When you are done graphing, if you did not make a straight line then you did something wrong. (Candice)

  16. Its hard but you just have to remember to pay attention to the positive and negative signs, and where to start on your graph when you plot the numbers you come up with by finding your variables(input and output values).
    Its always a good thing to remember the slope is rise over run, ex: y=5x+2 the slope is 5 and the y-intercept is 2. You start ploting on your graph with 2 the you go up 5 and over one.
    Pay attention in class,take notes,and w.e. else and you should be able to understand it all and more that you have to do to get the x and y-intercept (:
