Russian Mission is located on the west bank of the Yukon River in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, 376 miles west of Anchorage. The village, whose population is approximately 130, was the location of the first Russian American Company fur trading post in 1837, and in 1857 it became the location of the first Russian Orthodox mission in the Interior.
